Replacing glass for sculptural wearables
Each sculptural wearable is built from a series of flat shapes that build on each other to create their three-dimensional forms. If any one of those shapes is missing, the form appears lopsided. But how does our glass go missing?
When we take our sheet glass to the waterjet to be cut, sometimes pieces get lost due to the nature of the process. Even if the cut glass does make it back to the the studio from the waterjet, accidents can always happen. To replace the missing shapes, we use templates to determine which pieces are missing, and then to trace the shapes to then cut out by hand. This saves us the trouble of having to travel to our waterjet just to cut out a few pieces of glass.
The finished product? Our line of sculptural wearables glass jewelry that plays with form and light, using repetition to create their three-dimensional forms.
