Combining old techniques with modern technology
At Broken Plates, we combine a variety of traditional glass-making techniques with modern CNC waterjet technologies. This way of working allows for a lot of innovation within our lines of glass wearables.
Our line of blown glass jewelry uses hand blown glass plates. We then plan out what to cut at the CNC waterjet machine, using highly pressurized water and abrasives to cut the glass like butter. We take it back to our studio and sand all of the rough edges left by the waterjet to fire polish in a kiln overnight, returning it to its glossy shine.
The result is our bespoke collection of glass wearables in a diverse array of sophisticated neutrals, tinted hues, and rich jewel tones.
