A very stressfully focused moment assembling our largest kinetic glass necklace
Our Large Kinetic Deco Chest Piece is the largest, and arguably most stunning, piece of kinetic jewelry that we have to offer at Broken Plates. Assembling this necklace starts like all of our kinetic pieces…
We cut and prepare an inner tube to lock the pieces in place. And then we slide all 33 pieces of glass into place and carefully balance the inner tube on our jewelry vice and begin to hammer the end to lock everything in place. With 33 pieces of glass, it can be pretty tricky to support all of the glass with one hand while keeping it balanced and on center! During the final moments, we often hold our breath and focus so that we don’t hammer the glass and break it. As long as we don’t break anything, we get to thread the chain through the tube, making the glass wearable ready to wear! And finally, we place her inside her custom foam lined gift box for shipping.
